Alabama Heads to Boston: Technology, Innovation, and New Business Opportunities

Eduardo Mello, CTO and Co-Founder of Alabama Solutions, will take part in a business and technology mission to Boston organized by CUTI

Misión a Boston

Eduardo Mello, CTO and Co-Founder of Alabama Solutions, will take part in a business and technology mission to Boston organized by CUTI (Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology), taking place from October 26 to 30, 2026. The agenda includes visits to institutions such as MIT, Harvard Business School, Boston Dynamics, and Silicon Valley Bank, as well as meetings with key players in the local ecosystem and a visit to Squad Up Labs, one of Alabama’s clients in the United States.

From October 26 to 30, a Uruguayan delegation will travel to Boston as part of a mission organized by CUTI (Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology), with the goal of experiencing firsthand one of the most relevant innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship ecosystems in the United States.

Alabama Solutions will be represented by its CTO and Co-Founder, Eduardo Mello, who will take part in an agenda combining academic visits, business meetings, networking, and exchanges with organizations related to technology, investment, innovation, and business development.

The mission will begin with a visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and will continue with meetings at Silicon Valley Bank alongside representatives from companies such as HubSpot, Fidelity, and Multiplier.

Over the following days, the delegation will also take part in activities with InnoVenture, Brown University, SENEDIA, Boston Dynamics, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Venture Café, and Harvard Business School.

Boston, a city with a long history in technology

Boston’s importance in the technology world is not new.

The Boston and Cambridge metropolitan area was one of the first major technology hubs in the United States. In the decades following World War II, the Route 128 corridor became home to companies working in electronics, computing, and technology connected to the defense industry.

At one point, the ecosystem rivaled Silicon Valley, driven by technology companies, investment, and strong ties with leading universities.

MIT played a central role in this development. The university moved to Cambridge in 1916, in an area that already had a strong industrial and innovation background. Over time, the combination of academic research, capital, university spin-offs, and large companies turned the region into particularly fertile ground for new technologies.

One of the strongest symbols of this transformation is Kendall Square, located next to MIT’s campus. Over the past decades, it has evolved from an industrial district into one of the world’s most recognized research and innovation hubs, with a high concentration of technology and life sciences companies.

The region has also played a major role in the development of computing, telecommunications, biotechnology, and scientific research. Today, Cambridge continues to stand out in fields such as artificial intelligence, software, genomic research, biomedicine, and brain sciences.

An opportunity to connect with companies, universities, and new markets

For Alabama Solutions, the mission represents an opportunity to engage with different players in the U.S. technology ecosystem, learn about new ways of working, and explore potential opportunities for collaboration and international expansion.

The agenda will combine academic and business perspectives. Institutions such as MIT, Brown University, and Harvard Business School will provide insights into research, strategy, and education, while visits to companies and technology organizations will offer firsthand exposure to real-world innovation and business development.

At Boston Dynamics, for example, participants will have the opportunity to engage with a company that originated as an MIT spin-off and is internationally recognized for developing advanced mobile robots used in manufacturing, logistics, and industrial inspection.

There will also be networking opportunities at the Cambridge Innovation Center, through Venture Café, one of the city’s key meeting points for the entrepreneurial ecosystem, regularly bringing together startups, investors, academics, and companies.

Meeting with Squad Up Labs

The trip will also include a particularly relevant activity for Alabama Solutions: a visit to Squad Up Labs, one of its clients in the United States.

Alabama works with the company through a Staff Augmentation model, integrating technical professionals directly into its teams.

Being in Boston will provide the opportunity to turn a relationship that is usually managed remotely into an in-person meeting, strengthening the connection with the client and creating space to discuss projects, needs, and future challenges.

These kinds of meetings are also part of Alabama’s internationalization process, as the company continues to build long-term relationships with organizations outside Uruguay and deepen its presence in the U.S. market.

Technology, learning, and connections

The mission will take place over five days and will combine activities related to technology, education, investment, entrepreneurship, and business development.

For Alabama, the participation of Eduardo Mello, CTO and Co-Founder of the company, will provide an opportunity to bring new perspectives back to the team, gain firsthand insight into trends in the U.S. market, and continue building relationships within one of the world’s most established technology ecosystems.

The trip to Boston will also reinforce one of the directions Alabama has been developing in recent years: connecting technology talent from Uruguay and Latin America with international projects and companies.
